Stories Books & Cafe sells used books. They sell new books. They have a small cafe with a real espresso machine.

Sometimes, bands play on the back patio. There are tables and folding chairs for the audience. People sip coffee and talk and listen.

Spain has played at Stories Books & Cafe several times. On Thursday, August 17, 2017 Spain performed as part of that year’s installment of “Echo Park Rising”. Echo Park Rising is a kind of SXSW event for East Hollywood without the seminars and industry meet-ups. Traffic is shut down. There’s a big stage in the middle of Sunset Blvd. Smaller venues and some local shops are taken over for a few days. Parking is difficult and there are drunk young people staggering everywhere.

We started around 8pm. Saxophonist Doug Wieselman joined us for the evening. I put the taping device on a back gate ledge and pressed record.
